Creping Adhesive Significantly Improves Productivity of TAD Machine While Reducing Costs

A North American towel manufacturer producing 150 tons per day on a through-air-dry (TAD) machine was experiencing poor adhesion of the towel to the Yankee dryer. The poor adhesion resulted in sheet-control problems and increased sheet breaks at the creping blade, which negatively impacted the mill’s productivity. After conducting a thorough system review, Solenis recommended that the mill replace its existing adhesive system with Crepetrol™ 5600 creping adhesive. After implementing the Crepetrol program, the mill reported the following benefits:

  • Improved Yankee adhesion
  • More stable TAD creping operation
  • Reduced breaks
  • Improved productivity

In addition to helping the mill improve its productivity, the Crepetrol program enabled the mill to decrease its creping adhesive usage by 39 percent, saving the mill more than $200,000 per year.
