President, Paper and Water, Eurasia
Andreas Tuerk is president, Paper and Water, Eurasia, for Solenis. He oversees all sales, marketing and technology operations in Europe and Asia, in addition to global strategy for the company’s paper chemicals business. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and business restructurings.
Tuerk joined Solenis in 2019, when the BASF Paper and Water Chemicals business became part of the company. Before that he was senior vice president for BASF’s global paper wet-end and water treatment business, responsible for all business activities, including strategy, production, and research and development. He became part of BASF in 2009 when the company acquired the Swiss chemicals company Ciba. Tuerk served in BASF Germany and Switzerland as senior vice president, Global Pigment Restructuring, before becoming senior vice president, Paper Chemicals, and later assuming leadership of the Paper and Water Chemicals business.
While at Ciba, Tuerk was general manager, Paints and Coatings, and chief marketing and sales officer in Basel, Switzerland. He led the development and implementation of global sales incentive plan schemes for Ciba, in addition to development of marketing and pricing processes.
He started his career with IBM in marketing, advancing to vice president, Small and Medium Business Sales Software, for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Tuerk’s roles at IBM included service in France, Germany and the United States. He also owned an information technology consultancy for five years.
Tuerk holds a master’s of business management in marketing, statistics and business computing from the University of Tübingen, Germany, in addition to a certification in industrial business management.
