Charles Robinson joined Solenis in 2014 as senior vice president of the Hercules Pulp and Paper Division, where he is responsible for leading the global pulp and paper business and delivering profitable growth.
Prior to Solenis, Robinson was senior vice president of the Pulp and Paper Division at Ashland Water Technologies. Previously, Robinson served as global vice president of Ashland Specialty Chemicals, where he focused on growing the business in rapidly developing economies and delivering innovative solutions to a global portfolio of customers. Before that, he was general manager of new business development and the Ventures portfolio of businesses for Hercules Incorporated. In that role, he was responsible for growing the businesses organically and through mergers and acquisitions.
A native of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Robinson received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware in 1983. He has attended several executive programs including advanced general management at Wharton, Mergers & Acquisitions at Booth, and General Management at Darden. He joined Hercules in the polypropylene film business. Robinson held increasingly responsible positions in sales, business, market, product and quality management for the polypropylene film and fibers businesses, including the positions of vice president and general manager of FiberVisions, and President of ES FiberVisions, both joint venture entities.
Robinson currently serves on the executive committee of the Paper Industry Management Association (PIMA), the premier association for management professionals in the paper and pulp industry, and on the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees. He is also active in United Way.
