Dr. Timothy Wood joined Solenis in 2014 as senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO), where he is responsible for global research and development (R&D) and the global customer applications organization, which includes seven regional technical facilities.

In his role, Dr. Wood maintains strong partnerships with the global marketing and commercial teams to ensure the development of innovative products that meet customer needs in a variety of markets, and with the regional applications and platform launch teams, to effectively deploy these new technologies. He also leads the regional customer applications and analytical laboratories to ensure effective and ongoing customer service to support the growth of existing business.

Prior to working at Solenis, Dr. Wood was vice president of R&D for Ashland Water Technologies. He previously served as global R&D director for Dow Water and Process Solutions, where he directed R&D programs related to Dow’s water strategy. Dr. Wood began his career as a research scientist at Rohm and Haas Company, where he developed new polymers for the adhesives and coatings markets. He progressed through roles of increasing responsibility in technical service and R&D in the building products, coatings and functional polymers businesses. Dr. Wood was named technology director for Rohm and Haas’ functional polymers business in 2005 and R&D director for Dow’s water business in 2010, before joining Ashland in 2013.

Dr. Wood received his bachelor of science in chemistry from The Pennsylvania State University in 1980 and his doctorate in inorganic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1984. He has also completed a number of executive leadership programs at the University of Pennsylvania and MIT. He has authored numerous scientific papers and patents and is a member of the American Chemical Society.
