Solenis Participates in the 47th International Pulp and Paper Congress and Exposition

October 7, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Company highlights products and technologies designed for the operation of pulp and paper mills and industrial water treatment at ABTCP

WILMINGTON, Del. (Oct. 7, 2014) ‒ A global leader in chemical specialties for the pulp and paper sector, Solenis will be present at the 47th International Pulp and Paper Congress and Exposition (ABTCP 2014), taking place on October 07 through 09 at Expo Transamérica, in São Paulo, Brazil.

It is the first time the company participates at ABTCP as Solenis following the acquisition of Ashland Water Technologies by a fund managed by private investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R).  Prior to the acquisition, Ashland Water Technologies was a commercial business unit of Ashland Inc.  The sale closed July 31, 2014 and included the Industrial Water and the Pulp and Paper business units.

Rooted in “solutions” and “genesis,” the name underscores the company’s mission to be at the source – the genesis – of solutions for its customers.  “Now that we are operating as Solenis, our participation in ABTCP is extremely important,” stated Wanderley Flosi, vice president, Latin America.  “We have the opportunity to reconfirm our differentiating technologies and our commitment to our strong customer relations.”

At the exposition Solenis will highlight its complete portfolio of products and technologies designed for both the pulp and paper mill operation and industrial water treatment.  Key programs include: Hercobond™ 6950 dry strength technology for paper machine performance improvement, Spectrum™ XD1878 microbiocide, and customized Crepetrol™ coating additives for tissue manufacturing.  For pulp manufacturing, Infinity™ advanced technologies for process control and efficiency improvement will be highlighted.

Unique monitoring and control technologies will be featured for water and process treatment automation, including OnGuard™ 2-plus analyzer, a unique technology which senses or detects actual performance around scale control with automated dose response in cooling water applications, and OnGuard™ i Controller, a more advanced chemical monitoring and control system.

Solenis will also participate in the ABTCP Congress during the Recovery and Energy technical session.  Anderson José Beber, Applications Leader will present a paper titled “Water treatment control by congruent phosphate for recovery and power boilers based on knowledge,” which reviews how to improve high-pressure boiler operation stability, especially recovery boilers.
