Diversey’s ClearKlens Products, based on Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), Receive Official EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) Authorization

October 8, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Utrecht, The Netherlands: Diversey is committed to ensuring that the products that we bring to market are compliant with European regulations, including the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012).

Under the BPR, biocidal products need to be authorized before being used or sold in the European Union.  Biocidal products are assessed for effectiveness and safety during this European review.

In August 2020, Diversey’s ClearKlens IPA products were granted a Union approval with authorization number EU-0022128-0000. As a result, ClearKlens IPA products in all packaging formats can be sold in every EU country, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and the United Kingdom without a country-specific registration.

Understanding BPR, European Chemicals Agency: “The Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012) concerns the placing on the market and use of biocidal products, which are used to protect humans, animals, materials or articles against harmful organisms like pests or bacteria, by the action of the active substances contained in the biocidal product. This regulation aims to improve the functioning of the biocidal products market in the EU, while ensuring a high level of protection for humans and the environment”.
