The new Diversey Suma PolyWash L56R and Suma PolyDry A9 will be offered in 2x5 liters and 10 liters SafePack.

WILMINGTON, Del. (USA) — Diversey, a Solenis company, is introducing a new comprehensive and cost-effective mechanical ware washing solution for reusable plastic ware, adding to its extensive range of kitchen care products. By combining the effectiveness of Suma PolyWash L56R, a heavy-duty machine ware washing detergent, with Suma PolyDry A9, a concentrated neutral rinse aid, this mechanical ware washing system aims to address the challenges businesses face in transitioning from single-use plastics to reusable plastic ware.

Diversey’s innovative solution arrives just as the Directive (EU) 2019/904 – Single-Use Plastics comes into effect, setting stringent targets for reducing single-use plastics. The directive mandates a 75% recyclability rate for single-use plastic cups and food containers by 2024, increasing to 90% by 2027. As companies move toward reusable plastic ware, they often face challenges such as elevated costs, increased handling, and more complex cleaning and drying processes.

Feedback from customers has been very positive. As one top Diversey customer shared, “With Suma PolyWash and Suma PolyDry, we’ve noticed that our reusable plastic ware dries almost completely after washing. There’s no need for manual post-drying, which speeds up our operations and reduces the risk of contamination. The faster drying times also mean we can get our dishes back into service more quickly, which ultimately has a positive financial impact due to reduced working hours for manual drying.”

This endorsement highlights the benefits of Diversey’s new solution, which include:

  • Effective cleaning for reusable plastic ware, including Tritan and polypropylene-based items.
  • No risk of contamination due to improved drying performance of Suma PolyDry A9
  • Fast drying times, eliminating the need for manual post-drying.
  • Operational efficiency, leading to reduced costs and faster turnaround times.

Daniel Daggett, Ph.D., Vice President of Sustainability at Solenis, underscores how this solution aligns with the company’s broader sustainability strategy. “By enabling businesses to transition from single-use materials to reusable plastic ware, we’re helping promote the circular economy, reduce waste and lower the environmental impact of our customers’ operations. This solution not only supports compliance with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive but also aligns with our company’s broader sustainability goals, which focus on creating innovative, environmentally responsible and operationally efficient solutions.”
