Goal:Year-over-year improvement in culture survey participation and engagement score

Solenis brings together diverse perspectives in a safe, collaborative workplace that empowers our employees to solve the world’s most challenging process and sustainability challenges. We nurture a culture centered on fundamental beliefs about the value and inclusion of people – all people – and we promote learning, growth and well-being for all of our employees.

Employee engagement and fostering a committed, high-performing team of employees are fundamental to our culture and are measured through the Solenis Annual Culture Survey. Year after year, we have experienced increases in response rates which we attribute to the tangible actions management takes to promote participation, and the subsequent cultural initiatives that emerge from the survey findings.

Once the Culture Survey results are in, the real work begins. At Solenis, a critical part of our sustained improvement in our culture and employee experience is our Culture Action planning process. This process is driven by each and every people manager. Every manager meets with their team, listens to their ideas about opportunities to improve their team culture, and submits a specific action plan that will impact the employee experience. Progress is monitored throughout the year via extra “pulse” surveys.

Global Employee Engagement
Goal:Improve the lives of the people in the communities where we operate

Solenis works to be a valued and respected member of the communities where we work and live.

This commitment starts with our executive leadership team and extends to everyone, but at the core of our effort is a diverse group of global volunteers which compose our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee. These representatives in turn lead groups of employees in their regions that serve as a liaison between local efforts, initiatives that may be just a few passionate employees, and larger, coordinated national activities. The CSR Committee drives engagement to and through our “SolenisGives” platform. In addition, we also team up with customers and NGOs to tackle shared social and environmental challenges, working together to “Create Shared Value” (CSV) that include award-winning Soap For Hope™ and Linens For Life™ and more.

SolenisGives

Our web-based program, SolenisGives, allows every team member worldwide to easily support their community and the causes that matter to them. Employees use SolenisGives to participate in charitable activities that align with company or personal priorities. Through their personal account, each employee can:

Search a large, global database to find charities that align with their passions

Find and sign up for local and/or Solenis-sponsored volunteer opportunities

Commit to daily activities that support a cause, from recycling to using reusable straws

Join groups of employees with a shared passion for a particular cause

Donate to charities, including The Water Project, the primary institution we support

To provide employees a common ground to channel their passions, we’ve chosen three main causes that align with our company vision and mission. EDUCATION
Middle-school students now know there is science behind manufacturing. Employees from our plant in South Charleston, West Virginia, USA, came to Explore: The New Manufacturing Academy to discuss how our pool and spa chemicals are made.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Members of our team in Wommelgem, Belgium, took advantage of a month of free e-bikes to learn about car-free commutes. They combined for more than 1,000 km of travel to help solve traffic problems around Antwerp.
COMMUNITY CARE
A blood donation event at our office in Hyderabad, India, provided a positive and tangible impact on the community. Blood donors help people of all ages from all backgrounds; many of our sites host collections.
SUPPORT FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS
The Water Project, our flagship charity, works to provide sanitary water, facilities and hygiene education in Sub-Saharan Africa. Fetching water for cooking and cleaning is frequently a female responsibility. We sponsored two projects in 2023.
EDUCATION
We have donated laptops worldwide to charitable groups and under-served schools. The machines are great for educational and other uses, but out of date for business. These are a few of the laptops cleaned up and delivered by our team in Uruguay.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
The community of Somercotes, UK, is fortunate to be near waterways and also fortunate to have our team helping keep them clean year after year. Two pickup events in 2023 filled six large bags with rubbish.
COMMUNITY CARE
Winter in Sweden can be especially difficult for the homeless. In Helsingborg, our team collected clothes, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags and more for the non-profit Värmestugan, which means “the warming house.” Many of our locations worldwide do the same.
SUPPORT FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS
On International Women’s Day, a group from our office in São Paulo, Brazil, took time to visit the Alexandre von Humboldt Public School and share with teenagers the stories of their success – including the importance of trying again after you fail.
EDUCATION
Since opening in 2010, the Science Lab for Kids in Bradford, England, has welcomed more than 7,000 students and 800 teachers, even after missing two years due to the pandemic. Our volunteers have taken advantage of more than 1,300 opportunities to teach lessons on basic science and what we manufacture in the kids’ hometown.
COMMUNITY CARE
Employees at our plant in Busnago, Italy, joined the company in contributing to the purchase of a van for transportation of disabled residents in the city. It was the second time a van was donated to the “Free to Be, Free to Move” program.
Solenis takes pride in hiring only the most talented people. We believe embracing a diverse, inclusive workforce helps us deliver value to customers every day by solving the most complex sustainability challenges. Learn how we build our global community of experts.
