Solenis Affirms Science Based Targets Initiative in Sustainability Commitment

Action by Solenis reinforces company’s commitment to drive value through sustainable solutions

November 9, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WILMINGTON, Del. (USA) — Solenis, a leading global producer of specialty chemicals for water-intensive industries, has signed a commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for setting emissions reduction goals that align with science-based emissions targets.

The SBTi is a global body that enables businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction goals in line with the latest research in climate science. Science-based targets show companies and financial institutions how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change. In addition to defining and promoting science-based target-setting best practices, the SBTi offers companies resources and guidance and independently assesses and approves their targets.

As a next step, Solenis will develop near-term science-based emissions reduction targets and submit them to SBTi for validation.

“With a 100-year track record of improving sustainability for our company and our customers, this commitment to SBTi strengthens our ongoing efforts to drive value through sustainable solutions,” said Dr. Lotta Kanto Öqvist, chief sustainability officer at Solenis. “The development and validation of emissions targets will ensure we are aligned with climate science and help set the pace for continued progress, as well as future business growth.”

SBTi is the latest organization Solenis is working with to achieve sustainability goals.

In 2023, Solenis earned its second consecutive Platinum Recognition Level for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance from EcoVadis, a collaborative platform providing sustainability ratings and performance improvement tools for global supply chains. Solenis is among the top one percent of performers evaluated by EcoVadis in the chemical industry category.
